Apple, Think Different notion company files a lawsuit against virtualization firm Corellium for selling the replicas of iOs. Corellium allows users to interact with the virtual iOS devices that claim to open up new opportunities for security researchers.
It aids the consumer to use the iOs firmware on the browser. Apple says that it’s using the iOS virtualization products without any license from the company. With the help of Corellium, one can pause the operating system or can brick the phone and use it again without buying a new phone.
This gives the hacker or security researcher to try the new apps on the latest operating system or just look over the security vulnerabilities/hunt bugs of the version. The company was founded in Florida, 2017 who have founders that are famous in the Apple Jailbreakers community.
Apple has filed the lawsuit in Southern District of Florida and tell the company has replicated everything from code, graphic user interface, and icons.” Corellium explicitly markets its product as one that allows the creation of “virtual” Apple devices. For a million dollars a year, Corellium will even deliver a “private” installation of its product to any buyer. There is no basis for Corellium to be selling a product that allows the creation of avowedly perfect replicas of Apple’s devices to anyone willing to pay,” the company writes.
The news of filing a lawsuit just after Apple launches “iOs Security Research Device Program” where the researchers will be given access to “pre-jail broken” iOs devices to find security vulnerabilities in the version. The tech giant lawsuit asks Corellium to stop using its virtual iOS devices and pay disclosed “damages and lost profits” to the company.
